Wanted to post a picture of the board, but just as I was going to take the picture, Andrew spooked Thomas and caused Thomas to jump up and run over the board... and Thomas was being so good while we were playing avoiding the board. I guess the loser just didn't want photo evidence of the butt-kicking :D

Best words played: Vivace, Toured, Roux, and I know there were several others... if anything I got the luck of the draw with the high-point letters, and amazingly, I used them all (though the letter "Q" came to late for Andrew - all the "U"s were used)!

Greetings from Fenway Park!

What better way to spend the 4th of July than watch a baseball game? I mean, come on now, what's more American than watching the favorite past time called baseball?

So, Andrew has always wanted to go to Fenway and he's been wanting to see the Mariners. Just our luck, the M's were are playing in Boston during the weekend, so we decided to spend the money off of stubhub and drive up to Boston to see the game. See pictures of Fenway on my photobucket account! (sorry, no Disneyland pictures - still needing to sort though which are good and which need to be deleted). It's nice to see another legendary ballpark - nothing like a ballpark that is there for the enjoyment of baseball. Definitely Wrigley beats Fenway, but Fenway definitely ranks above the old Yankee Stadium, and the overall game experience is better at Fenway or Wrigley than as one would find at Safeco. Though, if for some reason the M's make it to the playoffs and find themselves playing the Yankees in New York, Andrew will be finding a way to get us tickets to go to a game at the new stadium.

Sadly, we didn't get to the game until the third inning due to the police starting to shut down roads for the events on the Esplanade and then after finding our way to the parking garage, figured out that the garage is no where near the ballpark and then getting lost in Boston trying to find the trains to get to Fenway... at least we finally got there and the M's didn't score any runs until we were there. Good game - Mariners showed their defense and beat the Red Sox 3-2 (the Red Sox scored their runs prior to our arrival - we like to think that us being there helped the M's score and win the game).

And of course, here I sit blogging during the time when Boston's big fireworks show happens... obvious that I'm not there watching it, huh? Well, we had intentions to go watch the display, but due to the earlier adventures of the day and knowing that we would be hard-pressed to find a place to see the whole display on the Esplanade, we decided to bag it (we were really tired) and just go back to our hotel room outside of Boston. Apparently, the police blocked off more roads, so instead of a 15 minute drive back to the hotel, it was an hour +. Seriously, right now at least half, if not more of downtown Boston is blocked off to traffic - and apparantly pedestrians get right-of way even if traffic has a green light...

Moral of the story: don't travel on the to a city you don't know on a holiday weekend. But if you do, pay twice the money to stay at a hotel in downtown, near mass transit to get you to where you want to go - just park the car and leave it there until you want to leave, well after the mess of 4th of July traffic.

Eh, the game was worth it though :) Who's envious of me now?

You know how the south has tumbleweeds - we have tumble cathair clusters. And I have literally been pulling off huge clumps of fur off his arse. Now to sweep the floor...

PETA finally found an excuse to complain about the fish-throwers at Pike Place Market. I love the outpouring of the Seattle community saying that this is just plain ridiculous and that the AVMA will continue on with the demonstration as planned. Afterall, what's Seattle without some flying fish?

Oh, how I miss it... especially the tasty fish...

25 going on 5...

So, last Saturday was my birthday - that's right, a quarter of a century has been lived. So, what better way to celebrate than act like I'm 5 and build my own Muppet. Seriously, who does not want their own Muppet? I could have made one resembling me, especially since there was a cheerleader outfit with the correct colors (purple and yellow) with a big yellow "W" on the sweater. Only problem was that they just did not have the right hair option. Course, it really was the yellow boa hair that sold me on this combination. His name is Nic. And I suck as a Muppeter, and I need to figure out a male voice. For now he sits cute next to my nightstand in his protective bag to keep the cat away from his hair. (and yes, I'm a huge Muppet dork)

Now, there was more fun to be had in NYC on my birthday even though the Whatnot was the whole purpose of going up there - just didn't take all that much time to design him surprisingly. So, we headed across the street to Central Park and visited the Central Park Zoo. Watched the sea lions at feeding time, almost got hit by birds in the tropics building, and saw the polar bears make use of the sudden down pour just like any human couple would do - well, did not stick around too long once we figured out what they were starting to do (thought that maybe we should give them some privacy) and just visit later when they were all tuckered out. Later, walked through the park to get to our restaurant for my birthday dinner and then a train ride home.

All in all, a good birthday - definitely one of the best since high school :)

Not fair...

The one time there is reason to visit the EMP and I am not living in Seattle or planning a trip to visit Seattle between now and mid-August. And I think I missed my chance when it was in DC at the Smithsonian (left DC October 5, 2008 (okay, that's a small window of time considering we moved in about a month before the exhibit left)).

EDIT: But there is hope! James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA 09/05/09 - 11/29/09!!! Just an hour drive from here!!!!!! Thanks Muppets Wiki for your information! (Note to hubby - read that we MUST do this sometime fall term before or even during Thanksgiving)

Yes, there is nothing better to do at work than to surf the net - it's that slow for me.
